Last Saturday, Steve and I stopped at Paul’s Discount. We wanted to get a garden implement or two, but found ourselves sidetracked by the seeds.
Herbs. Vegetables. Flowers. Seed packet after seed packet found their way into our cart. I don’t know how they got there. As far as I’m concerned, my hand was moving under someone else’s control.
I certainly was not under any sort of control.
And then we saw the spring bulbs.
“Gladiolas are kind of wild and crazy,” Steve said, picking up a package and sidling back toward the cart.
“What is this?” I said, picking up a strange shiny object. “A bulb planter? Won’t we need one of those?”
Then I grabbed some dahlia bulbs.
“You know what this means?” Steve asked.
I shook my head.
“It means we have a serious problem,” he said.

You have only a mild case of blub-o-mania, it’s not so bad. ;-)
BTW there’s a pic of my compostbins on my blog!

I have a bulb planter… handy little gadget.
My bulb fever hit 2 years ago in November – it was the snowdrops, crocus, daffodils and tulips that did it….

Yolanda Elizabet, I’m glad it’s a mild case. :-)
Katie, I haven’t actually tried to put the planter to use yet…but I will…

Hmmm… not even worth calling a specialist in for. Once you start buying bulbs from catalogs, along with tools, etc. and are keeping it a secret how much you really spend, let me know. Then you might have a problem, but it is a good one to have! Could be worse! Could be something frivolous like shoes or jewelry or clothes.

Carol, that’s true…it’s a habit that makes the world a more beautiful place, provided one plants the bulbs correctly so they actually grow. :-)

You too both have a problem? My hubby is immune, I’m the one afflicted.

Ottawa Gardener, yes, it seems like we both have the problem. It just means we encourage each other, though, which means there’s the potential for spending all that much more on these things…

Martha Stewart Farms has no shortage of bulbs or any flower for that matter. You can find a large selection of her fresh flowers arrangements at http://www.distinctivegiftsanytime.com. They are exquistite.
